Vermont is my home

Almost all my life I lived in Brooklyn New York. During my many years here I lived on Vermont Street. When I was around 5 years old 4 houses and some apartments in the bulding on my block was my family, and that stayed that way until I was around 11 years old. Mostly everyone speak to eachother, and get along. It is very rare that is a long term problem on my block, but there are some short term problems such as fights between new people on our block and the old, but later on everyone are friends. On my block everyone helps eachother, if you have two bags in your hand it is guaranteed you are going to get one carried by someone who sees you even if the load is obviously manageable someone will still lend a helping hand. In the summer we have certain events mainly cook outs. During a cook out one family cooks for the whole block and everyone sit outside, talk, laugh, listen to music, and dance. Although Vermont is in East New York which is considered to be a rough neighborhood it seems like we live in Suburbia. My block is very peaceful and everyone has respect for eachother. This is why we are considered our own mini community.
