Warning

Do anyone plan on buying a house any time soon? Be Careful because predators are out there. The are saying that people are putting down over 85%less of money that the really did. The Senator Charles Schumer said over 6000 homeowners are expected to be in foreclosure. Willie Mae Frierson was a victim in predatory lending. The home that she bought is now facing foreclosure. Papers on the house stated that she only put down $5000 when she really put down $57000. Predators are out there so people need to be more careful when it come to buying homes.

Complaint

Yes, there is always some type of complaining in the neighborhhod, but about church wow. It was said that complaints were being made about loud and unwanted church music. In a neighborhood there should be compromises and consideration towards other neighbors. The church was actually licensed to be an art gallery. That bought concerns about the church because some people thought the music and prayer was disruptive, and it was not supposed to be there...Houston we have a problem. Although New York City Department Of Buildings says the tax site is for a church or a synagogue. Why can't people just enjoy the sunday services. A question I have though is if the church was there for 15 years why do people decide to start complaining now?

Goodbye Empire

A special trademark that Brooklyn has is finally gone. Many memories are going away with it. So many goodtimes took place in Empire Skating Rink, even the late Teen Night Teen Night ended a while a go, but it was very exciting. It happened every Friday and teens were always looking forward to it. Though there were few problems the best of teen night always came out. Empire Skating Rink was around for over 60 years. It had to come to a close because it was hard to make a profit with the rising insurance costs. It was also said that after a shooting in January pressure was put on him to close the rink. I was going to empire with friends since i was a fetus lol, seriously though i was going to empire since i was around 7 years old. We use to have partys and get togethers there, It was very fun, it had dj's and everything. It is sad that they are closing a place that has been around for many years and what was a place that was so much fun. Empire was a place that helped keep children out of trouble in a way because instead of hanging on the streets the children would be in a fun environment probably not thinking of any problems, or trying to start any. Eventhough Empire is no longer here our community will look back, and remember all the good times people had there.

Earth Day

Today is Earth Day. It should be a day where everybody in the community get together to help keep our neighborhood clean and "healthy". Bloomberg had presented a plan to make the community green. That consisted of the plan of planting 1 million trees by 2017 to cool down temperatures and reduce pollution in the air. Bloomberg also wanted to reduce carbon emmisions by 30% over the next 20 years. Due to theory about global warming, we need to take the time out to take care of our earth as a community.
It seems people are not taking the time to take care of our neighborhood. People are still buying hummers and other objects thet contributes to our pollution. Our whole world is a community so we should work together no matter if you live in Brooklyn or in California or something. At the rate we are going if we do not start working together our world would probably end in a disastrous way. That is why it is good Bloomberg took the time out to come to Brooklyn to help us with earth day.

Brooklyn

In a school in our neighborhood, there is a marching band, and on a few saturdays they get together and play. Those days a lot of people in my community get together and watch them. We all laugh, talk, and admire how the kids coming from what is considered to be the "ghetto" can play like they are a profesional band. The band also consists of dancers, and they really can dance. It is fun watching them, and being involved by doing your own moves in your lcorner. People joke around and do their own mini performancees on the side. Its like our football games. The players parents, family members, and friends get together to watch and cheer for their boys. It is good seeing the team spirit with the players and the spectators. During the games people cook out and the even feed the opposite teams, it is real funny watching the hungry boys run with full speed to get their food. This community is fun, and I love it, i wouldn't move even if I got the chance to receive a free mansion in Bel-Air, well im getting a little carried away lol. Come check out our community one day, and look past the bad because the always is some good in it.

Brooklyn New York

The latest incident that happened on my block was a community project. It was not the nicest community project but everyone did work together. I live on Vermont, and the next block over is New Jersey. There was a girl on my block who had a problem with the girls on New Jersey. My friend had an argument with the girls. Later on that day her and my other friends went around there. That did lead to a fight. Almost everyone from both of our blocks were fighting, from the young people to the old. That shows how we care about eachother, and how we protect eachother. Eventhough that happened it does not make us a bad block because the way we were there for eachother for the bad, we are there for eachother for good. That was breaking news because it was a mini riot. After the incident there was a few regrets because we should be positively involved with our whole community and not just with our own block.

Vermont is my home

Almost all my life I lived in Brooklyn New York. During my many years here I lived on Vermont Street. When I was around 5 years old 4 houses and some apartments in the bulding on my block was my family, and that stayed that way until I was around 11 years old. Mostly everyone speak to eachother, and get along. It is very rare that is a long term problem on my block, but there are some short term problems such as fights between new people on our block and the old, but later on everyone are friends. On my block everyone helps eachother, if you have two bags in your hand it is guaranteed you are going to get one carried by someone who sees you even if the load is obviously manageable someone will still lend a helping hand. In the summer we have certain events mainly cook outs. During a cook out one family cooks for the whole block and everyone sit outside, talk, laugh, listen to music, and dance. Although Vermont is in East New York which is considered to be a rough neighborhood it seems like we live in Suburbia. My block is very peaceful and everyone has respect for eachother. This is why we are considered our own mini community.
